Phone Questions
The Ones We Answer Every Week
Written down so the counter can spend its time on your actual problem rather than on the same seventeen preliminaries.
Getting Started
Before You Book
Am I good enough to be fitted?
That question gets the logic backwards, and we hear it three or four times a week. A player whose contact wanders across the face has more to gain from equipment that tolerates the pattern than a player who already finds the middle every time. Just under half the people we put on a lane have never had a single club measured, and a third of them play above an eighteen handicap.
Which block should I book first?
The single club block, seventy-five minutes, on whichever club makes you unhappy most often. It is what we recommend on the phone nine times out of ten. You learn how your contact pattern behaves and whether that club is genuinely the weak point, and the fee credits toward a longer block if it turns out more of the bag needs attention.
Do I have to buy clubs at the end?
No, and roughly one session in six ends with adjustments to gear you already own rather than a purchase. You leave with a printed spec sheet either way. It is yours, it is complete, and you can hand it to any builder in the country.
What if I already own good clubs?
Then bring them, because that is the most useful thing you can put in front of us. We measure loft, lie, length, swingweight, shaft frequency and grip size before a ball is struck, and it is common to find a set where two or three irons sit a degree away from where they should be. Sometimes correcting that is the whole job.
How far ahead do I need to book?
Weekday mornings usually open up inside a week. Saturday mornings and the Wednesday and Thursday evening slots run two to three weeks out between March and June. If you are flexible about the day, we can normally find you something sooner than you expect.
The Session Itself
On the Lane
Why do you spray the clubface before looking at any numbers?
Because launch angle, spin and ball speed are all downstream of where the ball meets the face. Move contact half an inch and every one of those figures moves with it. Reading the marks first tells us whether the monitor is describing a stable pattern or averaging noise, and that changes what the whole session can conclude.
Will you fix my swing?
No. We are not a teaching operation and we will say plainly when a miss is coming from the swing rather than the club. When that happens we point you toward a teaching professional and, if you want, fit you to what you have today so the equipment is not making the lesson harder.
How many balls will I hit?
Fewer than most people expect. A single club block is typically sixty to ninety swings including the baseline block, spread over seventy-five minutes with talking in between. Fatigue produces dishonest data, so we would rather stop early than fit a golfer who only exists when tired.
Can I bring somebody with me?
Yes. There is a bench along the wall in both lanes and plenty of people bring a spouse or a friend. We do ask that the guest not coach during the baseline block, for the same reason we ask you to skip the range beforehand.
Do you fit left handed golfers?
Yes, with a smaller demo rack. Both lanes are set up for either hand and the bench does not care. Call before booking if you play left handed and want a specific head model on hand, because we may need to bring one in.
What about juniors?
We see a steady stream of them from the Upper Valley and Canutillo. Junior sessions run shorter and cost less, bench labour for anyone under sixteen is half rate, and a cut-down of an adult set is very often the right answer instead of a purchase.
Afterwards
Money, Parts and Time
Does the session fee come off the build?
Order from us within sixty days and the full block fee comes off any build of six hundred dollars or more. Under that figure we credit half. Component pricing does not quietly move up to compensate, and you can ask to see the invoice line on any part we install.
How long does a build take?
Heads and shafts already on our rack go to the bench the same week. Special orders from a manufacturer typically run eight to fifteen working days depending on the brand and the season. We tell you which category your build falls into before you pay a cent.
Are you tied to a particular brand?
No. There are no quotas here and nobody in the building earns more for steering you toward one badge. We stock nine head brands and more than a hundred and forty shaft models, and if the right answer is something we do not carry, we will tell you that and say who does.
What if the new clubs do not help?
Come back inside thirty days of collecting a build and we recheck loft and lie, correct anything that has drifted, and read a fresh face mark against the one from your session. There is no charge for that visit. If the mark says we got something wrong, we fix it on the bench rather than arguing about it.
Do you work on clubs you did not build?
Constantly. Regrips, loft and lie work, reshafts, length changes, swingweight corrections, ferrules and junior cut-downs all come across the counter regardless of where the club was born. Bring in an old set nobody makes parts for and Beto will tell you honestly whether it is worth saving.
Does altitude really change the recommendation?
Enough to matter. At roughly three thousand seven hundred feet the ball carries four to six percent further than at sea level and the flight runs flatter for the same spin. A driver set up correctly in Houston is often a shade too low on spin once it gets here, and gaps at the top of the bag compress. We keep our own carry figures from this valley rather than reciting published targets.
Question Not on the List?
Call the counter and ask. If it turns out three more people ask the same thing this season, it ends up on this page.
